INTRODUCTION
This will give you a preview of the best of Google Earth and Google
Sky. To download these exciting features, go to http://google.com.
In the search field, enter earth and click I’m Feeling Lucky. Click
Download for Google Earth and if you already have it, click Explore the
sky in Google Earth 4.2 to get Google Sky. To browse the addresses
given below, copy them and paste in the Address field of your browser.
GOOGLE EARTH
A series of 16 pictures showing some of Google Earth bizarre scenes
can be found at: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,134186/article.html.
If you view this lesson on the Web, merely click this address. To
view the pictures, click the Next Slide button.
Picture 4 shows a crop circle. For an interesting set of crop circles found by Google Earth, go to: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/175202.
Look at picture 9 and see a car parked on the side of a building.
If you’re interested in viewing a maze (over 3000 available), go to: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Number/927611. I had better luck by selecting “View in Google Maps” (at the top) rather than “View in Google Earth”. After selecting a maze from the long list, zoom in to maximum. Thereafter, any maze selected is displayed at maximum zoom.
To view any of over 150,000 flying aircraft pictured in Google Earth, go to: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Number/360116. Here, again, choose “View in Google Maps” (at the top) rather than “View in Google Earth”.
GOOGLE SKY
A series of 17 strange and beautiful pictures of the sky can be seen
at:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,137265/article.html?tk=nl_wbxsld.
Again, if reading this lesson from the Web, merely click on this address.
To view the pictures, click the Next Slide button.
The 17th picture bears the following information: “Ever mix up Orion's belt with Leo's tail? Google Sky gives you a guide to the 88 constellations visible from Earth. To find out what constellations are visible in the night sky above you, first use Google Earth to find your house. Zoom in, and then switch to Google Sky. This gives you a rough idea of what your night sky looks like. Unfortunately, Google Sky doesn't factor in the time of year yet.”
CONCLUSION
You can spend days and never see all that Google Earth and Google Sky
have to offer. This is merely an introduction to get you interested
in further exploration.
