INTRODUCTION
Google Docs allows up to 10 people to interact simultaneously on a
spreadsheet or other document. From home, you must establish a Google
account (free). The easiest way is to go to www.google.com
and search for google docs. Select either of the first two Web sites
and follow directions.
For this NT class only, my personal account will be used and the action below applies to that only. I’ve uploaded an Excel spreadsheet (Sheet1) and for Sheet 2 have added something new.
INSERT A ROW
Select row 28 (click the number 28 on the left) > click Insert + Row
Below (this adds a new row 29). Type “ Transportation” in the Event
column, row 29.
CENTER
Select Align and click the Center icon.
CHANGE TEXT SIZE
Click the Font Size icon (small t / large t) + 12.
START NEW DATABASE
Click Sheet 2 (at the bottom)
ENLARGE COLUMNS A & B
Drag column A to right about 2 inches > repeat for column B
ADD TITLE
Type “NEAT TRICKS POTLUCK” (without the quotes) > click B (Bold) >
click Align + Right icon
ADD COLUMN HEADINGS
In cell A2, type NAME > click B (Bold) > click Align + Center icon
> in cell B2 type DISH > click B (Bold) > click Align + Center icon
ADD DATA
Each person add his/her name and dish.
CONCLUSION
This gives you an introduction to the power and usefulness of Google
Docs. The “Doc” can be a spreadsheet, Word document, pictures etc…
