INTRODUCTION
This will introduce using the mouse for selecting text
in Word.
DEFINE START AND END
Place the mouse pointer where block highlighting is to
begin and click the left mouse button (define insertion point) > place
the mouse pointer where selection should end, hold Shift and click left
mouse button (highlights text between beginning and end points).
CLICK AND DRAG
Place the mouse pointer where block highlighting is to
begin, hold the left mouse button and drag to the point where selection
should end > release the mouse button (all text between beginning and end
are selected).
SELECT A WORD
Place mouse pointer anywhere on a word and double-click
(the word is selected).
SELECT A SENTENCE
Place mouse pointer anywhere in a sentence, hold Ctrl
and double-click (the entire sentence is selected).
SELECT A LINE OF TEXT
Place mouse pointer in section bar (left side of line
– mouse pointer will point to the right) > click the left mouse button
once (the line is selected).
SELECT ENTIRE DOCUMENT
Place mouse pointer anywhere in selection bar (left of
text area – mouse point to the right) > hold Ctrl > click the left mouse
button (all text is selected).
TO CANCEL A SELECTION
Click anywhere in the selected area.
CONCLUSION
These are the most used selections using the mouse.
