PHOTOSHOP - REFLECTIONS
INTRODUCTION
When you place an object in water, it becomes more realistic
if you add a reflection. Here we will do that, reducing the opacity
to further enhance the image.
MOVE 2 OBJECTS INTO PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS
From this web page (bzus.com + Neat Tricks + nt256),
click HERE to view Water. Right-click
anywhere on the image + Save Image As + Desktop. Keep the same name
> click Save. Repeat by clicking HERE
and save Family. Open Photoshop Elements > Restore (click double
squares in upper right corner) > move to side to expose picture files on
the Desktop. Left-click Water.jpg and drag onto Photoshop Elements.
Repeat for Family.jpg.
MOVE FAMILY ONTO WATER
With Family visible, select the Move tool > drag Family
onto Water. If necessary, click Window + Layers. (Both pictures
should be visible on the Layers palette.) Hold the Shift key and
reduce the size of Family (drag corner inward) to ¼ th the width
of Water. Position at upper third of Water.
REMOVE BACKGROUND FROM FAMILY & DUPLICATE LAYER
Select the Magic Eraser Tool > click the white background
(erase it) > click More (upper right corner of Layers palette) + Duplicate
Layer > name it “Reflection” + OK
CREATE REFLECTION
With the name Reflection highlighted on the Layers palette,
click Image + Rotate + Flip Layer Vertical. Select the Move tool
> move and rotate Reflection to match Family (use Arrow keys to fine tune
position). Change Opacity to about 25% (upper right of Layers Palette).
Compare your finished project to MINE.
CONCLUSION
As you see, pictures with objects on water are improved
by adding a reflection. The procedure given here works quite well.
