PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS – FRAME A PICTURE

INTRODUCTION
In this lesson we’ll use the canvas size technique to frame a picture.  We will learn some keyboard shortcuts along the way.

MAKE SMALL BLACK FRAME
Press the Tab key (removes the Tools Bar and Pallets) > hold the Alt key and rotate the mouse wheel to enlarge the picture.  Set the Background Color = black > select Image + Resize + Canvas Size > put a check in Relative > change Width and Height units to mm > set Size: 4 for both > click OK (completes the small black frame).

MAKE COLORED FRAME
Press the Tab key (restores the Tools bar) > select the Eyedropper Tool  > click a blue portion of the flower (sets foreground color) > press the color switch arrow (switches the color to the background) > select Image + Resize + Canvas Size > put a check in
Relative > change Width and Height units to mm > set Size: 10 for both > click OK (makes a colored frame).

MAKE OUTSIDE FRAME
Press the color switch arrow (switches the background color back to black) > select Image + Resize + Canvas Size > put a check in Relative > change Width and Height units to mm > set Size: 14 for both > click OK (adds an outer black frame) > press the Tab
key > hold the Alt key and rotate the mouse wheel to give full view of picture and frames.

CONCLUSIONS
Some pictures can be improved by framing.  Make multiple frames progressively larger toward the outer frame.
