set it up. The most used feature is to quickly view pictures.
However, here we will investigate a few other great features.
CROP AND PRINT
Open your browser and type google.com in the Address field > press
the Enter key > type “rice pudding recipe” > press Enter > select “Simply
Recipes” > scroll down to the recipe > press the PrtScr key > open Irfanview
> click Edit + Paste (or Ctrl + V) >draw a rectangle around the recipe
> click Edit + Crop selection (or Ctrl + Y) > click Image + Convert to
Grayscale > click File + Print (or Ctrl + P) > with Centered checked, click
Original size and Best fit to page and observe the preview (probably Original
size is best for this object. Don’t print in class – OK to print
at home.
SAVE A PICTURE
From the same Web page, scroll up to the picture > press PrtScr > open
Irfanview > press Ctrl + V > draw a rectangle around the picture > press
Ctrl + Y > press the S key (or File + Save as…) > Save in: Desktop, File
name: Rice Pudding, Save as type: JPG > press Enter (or click Save).
You have saved this picture – it can be used as any other picture.
ADD PICTURE TITLE
Draw a rectangle in the area to place title > click Edit + Insert text
into selection… (or Ctrl + T) > type a title > click Center > click
Choose Font and select Font:, Font style:, Font size:, Color: > click
OK > (normally, check Text is transparent – otherwise choose a background
color) > click OK to generate the title.
PLAY WITH TITLE BACKGROUND
Move the mouse pointer to an edge of the title rectangle > move the
edge to desired position > repeat for all edges > click Edit + Show paint
dialog.. > click the color patch > select a desired background color (this
is the forward color patch) > select the Floodfill Tool > click the title
background > if letters need color, click + at top to enlarge > put color
in the letter holes.
ROTATE A PICTURE
With any picture, press the following keys to rotate – L for left,
R for right, V for vertical flip, H for horizontal flip.
