PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 6 – SLIDE SHOWS

INTRODUCTION
PE6 makes it easy to create a slideshow with pans and zooms.  The transition between pictures can also be selected.  Duration of display and transition can be adjusted.

OPEN THE CREATOR
Open PE6 and select CREATE from the Welcome screen.  Click Slide Show… Accept the Preferences and click OK.

GET PHOTOS
Assuming you have pictures in a folder, click Add Media + Photos and Videos from Folder > navigate to the desired folder > double-click the folder > click the View icon and select Thumbnails > select all photos that you wish to “Get” from this folder (hold Ctrl and click the ones you want or Ctrl + A for All) > click Open (selected photos are displayed along the bottom).  You can exchange a picture’s position by dragging it past another picture.

PAN AND ZOOM
Click the first picture > click Enable Pan and Zoom > move and size the green (start) rectangle > click the End picture and move and size the red rectangle > set the duration.  If you wish to change the direction of the pan/zoom, click the “Swap this slide’s start and end points.”  If you click “Add Another Pan and Zoom this slide”, the End point of the original slide becomes the Start of the next slide (using the same picture).  Repeat for the second and all other pictures.

TRANSITION
Click the Transition square and you will be able to select between 23 transitions plus Random and None.  You can set the duration of the transition by selecting or typing.

PLAY THE SLIDESHOW
After setting all the pans/zooms and transitions, click the starting picture and click the Play button.

SAVE THE SLIDESHOW
To save the slideshow, click File + Slide Show Output.  Select Save As a File + Movie File (.wmv) > set File Size for posting on the Web (320X240), E-Mail (160X120), Computer Monitor (640X480) or DVD-NTSC (720x480).  If undecided, click “Help Me Decide”.

CONCLUSION
This is a short tour of the Organize features.  The best way to learn is to use these procedures on your own pictures.  If done right, you can find any picture you want.
