PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 6 – FILTERS
INTRODUCTION
PE6’s Full Edit includes about 12 or so main Filter types, each with
numerous sub-filters. Open PE6 and select EDIT from the Welcome screen.
Click Full (below the orange EDIT tab). On the Tools Bar, set foreground
and background colors light blue and light brown. Later switch background
and foreground colors and change colors because they affect some of the
filter results.
OPEN A PICTURE
Hold the Ctrl key and tap the letter O key > find the folder that has
a picture > double-click the folder to view the pictures inside > click
the View Menu icon and select Thumbnail or Medium Icon view > select a
picture and click Open.
ARTISTIC
Click Filter + Artistic > click the “–“ icon (lower left corner of
screen) until you can see the entire picture > in the right window, select
each of the 15 various Artistic filters (accept the default settings for
now).
BRUSH STROKE
Click the blue arrow in front of Brush Stroke > select each of the
8 various filters.
DISTORT
Click the blue arrow in front of Distort > select each of the 3 various
filters.
SKETCH
Click the blue arrow in front of Sketch > select each of the 14 various
filters.
STYLIZE
Click the blue arrow in front of Stylize > try the one filter.
TEXTURE
Click the blue arrow in front of Texture > select each of the 6 various
filters.
CONCLUSION
This is an easy way to review the effects of all of the many filters
on your picture. You can start with the one that comes closest to
your final “dream picture” and try the various adjustments that are available
for that particular filter to achieve the perfect result.
