PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 6 – PHOTO EFFECTS
INTRODUCTION
PE6’s Full Edit includes about 24 Photo Effects. Open PE6 and
select EDIT from the Welcome screen. Click Full (below the orange
EDIT tab).
OPEN A PICTURE
Hold the Ctrl key and tap the letter O key > find the folder that has
a picture > double-click the folder to view the pictures inside > click
the View Menu icon and select Thumbnail or Medium Icon view > select a
picture and click Open.
CREATE A DUPLICATE LAYER
On the Layers Palette, right-click the picture and select Duplicate
Layer… Accept the name and click OK. Click the duplicate layer title
to make it the active layer.
SELECT PHOTO EFFECTS
(If the Effects palette is not shown, click Window + Effects.)
On the Effects palette, select Photo Effects (third icon). In the
drop-down menu, select Show All.
TRY ALL 24 PHOTO EFFECTS
Scroll to the top Photo Effects row as a starting point. Select
an effect, click Apply, view the results and click the Undo button.
Repeat for the 4 effects on the top row, use the scroll bar to advance
to the next row etc. until you have tried all 24 Photo Effects.
TRY THIS ON A FLOWER
Apply Old Paper and then Soft Flat Color. Then click Undo and
Redo to see the effects on the flower edges.
CONCLUSION
This is easier said than done. When (if) you find a Photo Effect
that you like, you can continue with Filter or Enhance to further modify/render
your artistic project. When saving, always give it a different name
than the original.
